Textures & Finishes
More Than a Flat Print
Personalization can have depth, texture, shine, transparency, and more. Depending on the product, material, and artwork, Fennec Creations can use different printing techniques to create unique visual and tactile effects.
Textures and finishes may vary by product and design, so look for available options on individual product pages or contact us through Special Requests if you have something specific in mind.
Texture & Dimension
Relief levels are Fennec Creations texture references used to describe the relative amount of raised dimension in a design. Actual texture may vary by artwork, material, and print area.
Relief levels range from 0.1 to 3.0 and can be adjusted in 0.1 increments.
The same relief level may look different depending on the artwork, amount of detail, and where texture is applied.
Texture and relief options may affect pricing based on the relief level, print area, artwork complexity, and product. Because not every relief level is suitable for every design or material, please contact us for a quote and recommendation before ordering a specialty texture or relief finish.
We can help you choose a relief level that gives you the look you want while still being appropriate for the product and design.
-
Flat Print
A smooth, traditional full-color print with little to no raised texture.
-
0.5 Relief Print
A subtle raised effect that adds gentle dimension while keeping the design relatively smooth.
-
1.0 Relief Print
Noticeable texture that adds depth and greater definition to selected areas of the design.
-
1.5 Relief Print
A more pronounced dimensional effect with stronger raised detail and tactile depth.
-
2.0 Relief Print
A dramatic relief effect with highly raised details and a distinctly dimensional finish.
UV-Reactive Fluorescent Accents
Fluorescent inks are designed to create vivid, UV-reactive accents that become especially striking under blacklight. In normal lighting, fluorescent colors may appear different from their standard color counterparts, and their appearance can vary depending on the artwork, material, and how the ink is incorporated into the design.
-
Fluorescent Red
Fluorescent Red creates a bright pink-to-magenta UV reaction under blacklight. In normal lighting, it may appear pinker or more purple-toned than a traditional red, making it especially useful for designs where a vivid specialty effect is desired.
-
Fluorescent Yellow
Fluorescent Yellow creates an intense yellow-to-yellow-green UV reaction under blacklight. It works especially well for highlights, lettering, patterns, and other details intended to stand out dramatically under UV lighting.
-
Fluorescent Yellow and Red
Fluorescent Red and Yellow can be combined within the same design to create multiple UV-reactive accents. Each color responds differently under blacklight, allowing selected details, patterns, and highlights to stand apart from one another.
Examples are shown in normal lighting and under UV/blacklight. Fluorescent colors can be difficult to photograph accurately and may appear different depending on lighting, camera settings, and viewing conditions.
Gloss & Varnish
Clear varnish can be added to selected areas or across a design to change the surface finish, add visual contrast, and provide an additional protective layer over the printed artwork.
Gloss varnish creates a shinier, more reflective finish that can make selected details stand out.
Matte varnish provides added protection with a softer, lower-sheen appearance when a glossy effect is not desired.
Varnish can also be built in multiple layers. Each additional layer adds more material over the printed surface, providing greater protection against everyday scratches and normal wear while also increasing the depth of the finish.
The appropriate varnish type and number of layers depend on the product, material, artwork, and intended use. Contact us for a recommendation and quote if you would like to add a specialty varnish finish.
-
Matte Varnish
A low-sheen protective finish that helps preserve printed artwork while maintaining a softer, more natural surface appearance. Matte varnish can be applied in one or more layers for additional protection against everyday scratches and normal wear.
-
Gloss Varnish
A shiny, reflective protective finish that enhances contrast and helps certain colors and details stand out more prominently. Gloss varnish can be applied in one or more layers for additional protection against everyday scratches and normal wear.
-
Varnish + Texture
Varnish can be applied over textured or dimensional printing to add shine, emphasize raised details, and provide an additional layer of surface protection. The final appearance depends on the texture, varnish type, artwork, and number of varnish layers used.
Varnish may be applied in multiple layers for additional protection against everyday scratches and normal wear. Additional layers can also increase the visual depth of the finish.
Texture Gallery
Texture can be visual, dimensional, or a combination of both. Some designs create the appearance of materials such as yarn or fabric while remaining relatively flat, while others use raised printing to add physical depth and tactile detail.
-
Knit / Yarn Texture
Flat printed texture that mimics the appearance of knitted stitches and yarn.
-
Embroidery Texture
A stitched-style texture that mimics the look of embroidered thread, including directional stitch patterns, raised outlines, and layered detail. It works especially well for logos, florals, animals, patches, and artwork designed to resemble traditional embroidery.
-
Pom Pom / Chenille
A plush, tufted texture that mimics the soft, raised look of pom pom or chenille-style patchwork. It adds bold dimension and works especially well for mascots, patches, badges, and playful graphic designs.
-
Stained Glass
A stained-glass style effect that uses segmented artwork, bold outlines, and layered color to create the look of decorative glasswork. Depending on the artwork and print method, it can appear smooth and flat or be paired with dimensional printing for added depth.
-
Mosaic Texture
A tiled-style texture that mimics small pieces of glass, stone, or ceramic arranged into a larger image. Defined borders and varied color sections create a handcrafted mosaic appearance with strong visual detail.
Shown here as a dimensional mosaic effect. Mosaic designs can also be produced more subtly depending on the artwork and desired relief level. -
Painted Canvas
A textured effect designed to mimic artwork painted on canvas, combining visible canvas grain with directional brushstroke-style detail. It adds a handcrafted, fine-art appearance that works especially well with landscapes, florals, portraits, and illustrative artwork.
-
Wax Stamp
A dimensional effect designed to mimic the raised, sculpted appearance of a traditional wax seal. It works especially well for crests, initials, monograms, formal designs, vintage-inspired artwork, and decorative accents.
-
Embossed Monogram
A raised monogram effect that gives lettering and decorative details a pressed or sculpted appearance. It adds depth and a more refined, dimensional finish without requiring a full wax-seal style.
-
Oak Barrel
A rustic wood-inspired texture that mimics the grain, grooves, and weathered character of oak barrel staves. Dimensional details can emphasize plank lines, knots, metal bands, and aged surface variation for a more tactile, handcrafted look.
-
Candy Texture
A raised candy-inspired texture that mimics the look of sugared peppermint and frosted confection details. This finish adds tactile dimension and works especially well for holiday designs, whimsical artwork, and playful seasonal accents.
-
Fur Texture
A dimensional fur-inspired texture that uses raised detail to create the appearance of soft, natural coat patterns. This finish adds realism, visual depth, and tactile interest to animal and wildlife designs.
